  • It is necessary to card a buff before use to make the fabric softer and allow it to hold more polishing compound. 
  • Simply hold the rake firmly with both hands and scrape the surface of the rotating buff. 
  • Then finish the buff with a cutter or 40 or 80 grit coarse emery paper to soften and remove threads which remain after carding. 
  • Once these steps have been completed you will have a buff that should not vibrate and be very soft to the touch.
