It is necessary to card a buff before use to make the fabric softer and allow it to hold more polishing compound.
Simply hold the rake firmly with both hands and scrape the surface of the rotating buff.
Then finish the buff with a cutter or 40 or 80 grit coarse emery paper to soften and remove threads which remain after carding.
Once these steps have been completed you will have a buff that should not vibrate and be very soft to the touch.
